Bed Bug Treatment Preparation
Proper preparation helps your treatment work as effectively as possible. Please complete the steps below before your scheduled service.
Before Treatment:
Remove clutter from all rooms being treated.
Vacuum the following:
Mattresses and box springs
Bed frames
Floors and carpeting
Couches, chairs and other upholstered furniture
Under and around all furniture
After vacuuming:
Dispose of the vacuum bag right away, or
Empty the vacuum canister outside
Empty furniture and closets
Empty:
Dressers
Nightstands
Shelving units
Desks
Closets
Check items for signs of bed bugs, then place them in tightly sealed plastic bags or plastic totes with secure lids. Use tape to seal any openings so bed bugs cannot get back inside.
Dry clothing and fabric items
Place heat-safe items in a hot dryer for 30–40 minutes.
This includes:
Clothing
Bed linens
Pillows
Curtains
Shoes
Backpacks
Other heat-safe fabric items
Always follow the manufacturer’s care instructions.
After drying:
Place items in sealed plastic bags or totes
Keep them sealed until treatment is complete
You may complete this step at any time before treatment, as long as the items remain tightly sealed.
Prepare mattresses and box springs
We recommend using bed bug-proof encasements on all mattresses and box springs.
Contact Bentson Pest Management at 712-276-2769 if you need help choosing the correct size.
Prepare the room
Before your technician arrives:
Remove electrical outlet covers
Remove light-switch covers
Take fragile, valuable or sentimental items out of the treatment area
Our technicians will handle your belongings with care, but Bentson Pest Management cannot be responsible for items that are scratched or broken during treatment.
Throwing items away
You do not always need to dispose of furniture or belongings.
When an item must be discarded:
Wrap it completely in plastic
Seal it tightly before moving it
Avoid carrying unsealed items through the home
Do not donate the items
This helps prevent bed bugs from spreading to other rooms.
After Treatment
Stay out of treated areas for 4–6 hours, or for the amount of time directed by your technician
Keep clothing and clutter to a minimum
Leave prepared items sealed for 30 days.
Be aware that heavy infestations may require follow-up treatments
Please complete the same preparation steps before every follow-up treatment. Keeping unnecessary items out of the treatment area will make future preparation much easier.
Aspire cuidadosamente:
Colchones y bases (box spring)
Estructuras de las camas
Pisos y alfombras
